The different distances between looking up and looking down…

It seems “look up” is way more encouraging than “look down”; does there have some underlying reasons? Maybe, by understanding the physical distance differences, it helps to remind us of the importance of always looking up!

When you look down (it also means less confidence)

You see:

Your hands,

Your feet,

Your table and a cup of coffee,

Your computer,

Your phone, or,

Any settings right in front of you with just an arm-length distance.

These can be a part of you that is genuinely under your control, or they are your possessions that you have the power to control and manipulate. They are nothing new to you, and they don’t require much effort to possess.

When you look up (confidently)

You see:

God, goddess, and heaven of your religion,

The Sky,

The tress outside your window,

The comfortable environment around you,

The photos that framed those memorable moments,

The paintings that are beautiful and have inspired you,

Something you treasure that you put far from reach in a safe place, or,

Creating an imagination of riding a rocket to outer space.

These are things out of your reach; hence, they require your effort to achieve or experience again. It’s something you long for or keep ahead of you to motivate you.

Any novelty is stimuli for our brain and mind; any distance we see is a gap we want to close; while reaching for things we can feel secure, we always desire to achieve what is a bit far from us.

Look up works much better than look down for confidence:

Looking down means you hide the most vulnerable part of your body — your neck — which is a sign of insecurity. In bodily effect, when your neck folds inward, it’s harder to breathe, making you feel even more insecure.

Looking up means you open your body; the more open your body is, the better you feel because of the extra amount of oxygen you’re inhaling.

Look up works much better than look down in relationships:

You look up to people who inspire you, give your support and encouragement, and ultimately, you learn from those you look up to!

You look down on people is nothing about them. You do that to feel your power and authority, which mainly fills the hole in your confidence and shows your incompetence!

Keep looking up to see your purpose in life, confidently eyes forward, and keep getting after that distance!

Health Tips:

Prolong to look down; in fact, it hurts your neck!

Take time to relax your neck and body, even when concentrating on the projects right before you!

Looking up to something green helps to relax your eyes!
